I play saxaphone and my sister plays cello, she wants to learn a small part of one of my saxaphone pieces on the cello, so we were wondering what is the note differance...g on the saxophone is b flat on the flute...ect... or if you know a website that would really help thanks...oh if you could explain half steps too that would help a bunch in rewriting it thanks
to stiofan_lok... learn to spell yourself bub, (for your sister to "pay" them.) ... then you can call me honey, ok:)
Tell her the notes in concert pitch like your "A" being a Concert C since she is a concert instrument then tell her the note is C. More efficiently go to www.finalemusic.com and download finale notepad make a duet by typing in the alto (or bari) part and copy then print it will automatically transpose for you.
The cello is a C instrument and the SaxOphone (learn to spell, honey) is an E flat instrument (I'm assuming alto sax). You need to take your saxophone pieces down a minor third (three semitiones) and then make them bass clef for your sister to pay them.

I'm guessing that you're playing alto saxophone - this trick only works for Eb treble clef instruments (alto sax and baritone sax) going to bass clef and vice versa.
To turn saxophone music into cello music: Change the clef to bass clef and add 3 flats to the key signature (the sharps and flats that come immediately to the right of the clef symbol).
Here's a conversion chart:
Eb Alto Saxophone –> Cello
5 sharps (F#, C#, G#, D#, A#) –> 2 sharps (F#, C#)
4 sharps (F#, C#, G#, D#) –> 1 sharp (F#)
3 sharps (F#, C#, G#) –> no sharps/flats
2 sharps (F#, C#) –> 1 flat (Bb)
1 sharp (F#) –> 2 flats (Bb, Eb)
no sharps/flats –> 3 flats (Bb, Eb, Ab)
1 flat (Bb) –> 4 flats (Bb, Eb, Ab, Db)
2 flats (Bb, Eb) –> 5 flats (Bb, Eb, Ab, Db, Gb)
I didn't list all of the key signatures - ask again if you need the changes for key signatures with 6 and 7 sharps or flats.
To go from cello to saxophone, just reverse the process. Switch the bass clef to treble clef, and add 3 sharps (subtract 3 flats). Use the table above, but go right to left.
